The Philippine Insurrection The Philippines,…and they thought they would get their independence as we did for Cuba. This did not happen…on February 4, 1899, an insurrection under Emilio Aguinaldo erupted. It was a bloody, horrible 3-year conflict that was finally put down in 1901, when American soldiers cleverly infiltrated a guerilla camp and captured Aguinaldo.
