These challenges are no longer simple ones. They are serious issues such as kindergartners bringing guns to school, fourth-graders selling drugs, and teenage girls getting pregnant. In an attempt to reduce some of these problems among youth, youth centers have created safe, caring and stimulating environments in which kids can flourish. The primary research also addresses the necessary information that Kaleidoscope should follow to improve the center administratively, thereby empowering staff and mentors to effectively improve the levels of participation and attendance at Kaleidoscope. These aspects include issues on special needs of challenged youth, management training, and marketing strategies. From this research, many recommendations have been made pertaining to these issues and how they may best be addressed within the Kaleidoscope Youth Center. It is our hope that the information presented in this report will enable the Kaleidoscope Youth Center to implement more effective ways of increasing and retaining the youth who participate at the center, both after-school and in the summer....
