One of the thermodynamic materials parameters discussed was the coefficient of compressibility: 1 T V VP b æö ÷ ç =- ÷ ç ÷ ç èø . At various temperatures, can have differing values. Explain how this is so since T is held constant. Hint: Use a plot (it can be hand sketched) of versus temperature to help support your answer. 2. In class, we have been able to develop several Free Energy relationships with respect to intensive and extensive variables using the Fundamental Equation of Thermodynamics (FEOT) and the fact that it is an exact differential. These relationships are called Maxwell relationships . When a system is perturbed, they help us establish how certain variables react when other variables change in response to the perturbation.
