Amy Callaway Goldfinger Dr. Hollinger Jenkins Jenkins puts a lot of emphasis on how the characters of Pussy Galore ad Tilly Masterson differ between the novel and the film. In the novel Pussy and Tilly are both sexual deviants as lesbians. American censorship would now allow the sexual exploits on film and in fact banned the use of Miss Galore’s first name on all promotional material. “If sexual deviance in the Bond novels works to directly bolster both Bond's masculinity and national potency, how are the American film versions able to sustain these characteristics when the sexual deviance-national deviance text is erased? After all, Goldfinger moviegoers who had not read the book would probably not guess that either Pussy or Tilly was originally a lesbian”. The film keep the women sexually desirable by adding playful cat and mouse game between themselves and Bond before he finally seduces them, in the novel they are portrayed as unattracted to men in the film however it is just a game.
