ISDS 1102 Syllabus (Spring 2010) Instructor: Laurene Hutchinson Office: 3188 CEBA Phone: 578-2508 Email: [email protected] Office Hours: 1:30-3:00 T/TH or by appt Course Objective: This course is designed to teach the student about the use of Information Systems and Decision Sciences (ISDS) in business. Topics will include Computer Concepts, Internet and E-Commerce, Networking and Security, Mobile Computing and other new technologies used in business. This course is also designed to teach the student how to use many of the computer resources available at LSU. Emphasis will be placed on Word, PowerPoint and Excel, as these are the tools the student is most likely to utilize throughout his/her career in business. Course Materials: This course requires a custom book bundle which includes a custom version of Technology in Action, Sixth Edition and Business Statistics, A First Course, Fifth Edition created for LSU, and a password for the application myitlab (ISBN for Book Bundle: 0-588-51141-4). The book bundle CANNOT be shared with other classmates. The passcode information found in this packet can only be used by one student. Every student is required to have this information in order to take tests and complete assignments. Without this bundle, a student can not pass this class. Also, the passcode information is only good for one year. So if you drop the class, you must retake the course the next semester or you will have to re-purchase this package again.
