REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE There are many journals available covering veterinary medicine. The majority of these deal with technical aspects of diagnosis and surgical procedures. However, several articles were found on ways to increase the customer base of a clinic as well as demographics and trends of pet owners. In the last twenty years there has been an increase in the number of single-parent and dual-income families. As a result, additional emphasis has been placed on customer convenience for these time-restricted clients. This is particularly true when the business hours of the service they require coincide with their work schedule. These articles, along with various articles relating to conducting business research have been used as a framework for evaluating the proposed service by Michigan Avenue Veterinary Clinic. PROCEDURES A list consisting of 18,000 licensed dog owners in the 48601 through 48604 ZIP Code areas was available from the Saginaw Country Treasurer’s Office. The dog owner’s name, address, and telephone number, as well as other pertinent information on their animal, is available from these registration forms.
