Unformatted text preview: Matthew Francis American Heritage 100, Section 48 7 November 2008 Forum Assignment Professor George presented on what he considered foundational issues, being issues of life regarding marriage and the family. He spoke that the general welfare of the people of this country requires limited government that must not control the family unit; however, the government must consider the ideological in addition to the pragmatic when determining moral issues. He proclaimed that if we will speak out with conviction of the necessity for morality within the laws of this great nation, and live in a way that exemplifies this cause, that eventually “America will come around.” After the opening of his talk, Professor George preceded to talk of the abortion issue. He deciphered that both sides of the issue argue supposed truth; pro-choice supporters say that the mother has the right of privacy and the right to dictate her body and decisions thereof, while the pro-life supporters claim individualism and independence of the fetus, granting it all the same...
