Blackjack Brief history/importance of knowing how to play Rules Strategies I. Introduction A. Since I am an avid blackjack player, I have the necessary knowledge to inform the class on rules and effective strategies. B. Becoming an effective blackjack player is an important skill to have. Not only does this skill have monetary benefits but allows one to participate in friendly, more socially oriented poker games. C. I will explain how to become an effective blackjack player by focusing on three points: 1. Give a general background and main objective of the game. 2. Explain the rules of blackjack 3. Explain effective strategies. II. Body A. Brief History 1. Spanish Origins a. Don Quixote 2. Explanation of name a. blackjack B. Basic Introduction 1. players play against “the house” or dealer a. if the player beats the dealer, they win the money that they bet 2. bets are placed before cards are given out a. 2 to each player b. players cards are face down and dealer shows only one card 3. object is to get higher card total than the dealer but no higher than 21
