Kevin Cuddihy The Story Aphrodite wanted Hades to fall in love with someone and Demeter’s daughter, Persephone, wanted to be a maiden goddess. Aphrodite did not want Persephone to be maiden goddess because she believed there were too many other maiden goddesses. Therefore, she sent down Cupid to shoot one of his arrows at Hades to make him fall in love with the next woman he saw. Hades saw Persephone with the nymphs and instantly fell in love with her. Hades abducted her in order to bring her to the Underworld to make her his wife and the Queen of the Underworld. Demeter began to search for her missing daughter and became enraged that Persephone was missing. Demeter stopped the growing of fruit and vegetables and refused to return to Mount Olympus until her daughter was brought back to her. She started to walk around Earth and brought desert and the stop of vegetation everywhere she journeyed to. Ultimately, Zeus sent Hermes to Hades to tell him to free Persephone. Hades agreed and this is where the story has two
