Claim -statement being argued Evidence/Data -support to prove the claim Warrant -connection between the claim and  evidence (very often unstated) Backing -statements that support the warrant (don’t always prove the main point, but do prove the  warrant) Qualifiers -words and phrases that limit claims Rebuttals -counter-arguments that  acknowledge when the general claim doesn’t  hold true Review: Toulmin Argument
