SAR Physics AM Kolchin Instructions 1. This worksheet is to be completed in class while work- ing together. Please don’t go ahead of the class. 2. Take notes in class on separate sheets of paper. 3. Calculations are to be done showing equations and units. Please don’t just write down numbers without expla- nation. No calculators are to be used unless explicitly stated. 4. The worksheet is to be handed in at the end of class even if it has not been completed. Parallel Circuits : 1. In a parallel circuit, current divides to flow through the diFerent branches. The total current equals the sum of the currents in all of the branches. 2. The voltage drop across each resistor is the same. 3. The resistances can be replaced by an ”equivalent resis- tance” that leaves the current unchanged. It is found as follows: 1 R EQ = 1 R 1 + 1 R 2 + 1 R 3 + .... 4. Ohm’s Law ( V = IR or I = V/R ) can be applied between any two points in a circuit. 1
