1 Food Intake 23 The goal of this lecture is to discuss integration paradigms in physiology associated with the control of food intake and thermoregulation The sections for this lecture are: Homeostasis and communication Control of thermoregulation Control of food intake Control of reproduction a review of the course based on an integration paradigm of homeostatic regulation Physiology Life is a series of chemical reactions occurring in compartmentalized environments. The main purpose of life is to keep itself alive Physiology, the study of how life works, is based on the simultaneous occurrence of the following concepts levels of organization structure / function relationship homeostatic regulation Integration and homeostatic regulation Thermoregulation Food intake Reproduction the starting premises and the general outline of this f nal lecture on physiological integration A reflex arc or how to think in a linear fashion
