(10 points) Assume the Earth’s orbit around the Sun to be circular. Describe the Earth’s orbit that would result if the Sun’s mass suddenly decreases by a factor of two and argue whether or not Earth will remain gravitationally bound in the solar system (ignore the influence of other planets) in this case. Show the calculations that back up your conclusions.
