Toni Leigh Bullard English 1101 Ms. Kathy Branch September 14, 2007 Best Friends and Champions Competition cheerleading is not considered a “real” sport in the eyes of most but to me it is the greatest sporting event know to mankind. For four years, I was a member of the Cook High School competition cheerleading squad. My senior year I had the honor of being the captain of seventeen amazing girls and had the best coach I could ever ask for. Our coach was like a second mother to us, and all of the girls on the team were like sisters. We had our disagreements, but the second we stepped on the mat to compete every Saturday all of our problems disappeared, and we were united as one to bring home the trophy to display in our cabinet at school. Being part of a team and surrounding myself with loving people that I know I can depend on has made me a better person. I learned much more than cheers and stunts during my time on the competition squad, I learned cooperation, trust, and respect for others that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
