Unformatted text preview: Evaluation and Presentation of Experimental Data I (ENGR 201-071) Lab #4 Making Voltage Measurements with the NI USB-6009 (Macintosh Version) 05-07-2010 xxxxxxxxx yyyyyyyyyy Abstract In performing this lab, it was the groups goal to become more familiar with advanced programming techniques related to LabVIEW as well as to be introduced to data acquisition devices (DAQ) and their capabilities. In this lab, the NI USB-6009 DAQ was used to read single voltage measurements. The experiment involved attaching the DAQ to a voltage output source for voltages ranging from 0 volts to 6 volts. The DAQ read the output signal every 0.5 seconds for 60 seconds total and then outputted the data through the LabVIEW VI that was created. Ultimately, this VI was able to manipulate, automate, and display the data that was being gathered from the NI USB-6009 device. After gathering all the data, this information was plotted in graphs which depicted voltage versus time. Analyzing the groups of data and their statistical analyses showed that both devices being used were within their design specifications. The highest standard deviation recorded was only 0.002078 volts and the averages for each set were very close to the actual value. The highest average recorded was that for the 6 volts data set which was calculated to be 5.994 volts.
