Purdue University  IE 383 Leyla Ozsen Spring 2008 IE-383 Spring 2008 Integrated Production Systems I Instructor:   Dr. Leyla Ozsen No office hours Email:  [email protected]   TAs: Nayoung Cho Email:  [email protected] Contact the TA if you have questions regarding assignments  Office Hours: T 1:30-4:30 and W 12:00-3:00 in GRIS291.  Alex Shi Email: [email protected] Contact the TA  only for regrades  of your assignments  All regrades have to be in written form, see regrade section for more details No office hours Course   Objectives :   To   cover   the   basic   concepts   in   the   design   and   operational   control   of  production systems. More advanced topics are covered in IE 484.  Prerequisites:     Probability,   Statistics,   Linear   Programming   and   Computing   in   Industrial  Engineering (IE 230, IE 330, IE 332 and IE 335).  Required Textbooks:   2005.  (ISBN 0-07-286538-5). The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement by Eliyahu M. Goldratt, Jeff Cox,  3 rd  Edition (Paperback).    There will be weekly readings from the text. Some material discussed in class  will not be in the text; likewise some material in the readings will not be  discussed in class.  Students will be responsible for   both material introduced  in the lectures and in the readings.   Grading: Two Midterms 40%    Final  (comprehensive) 35% Homework 15% Book Report   5% Participation   5% Note: Classes are going to be canceled to compensate for the two hours that are   required for the  evening exam hours (TBA). - 1 -
