Subject code: AFD111 Subject Title: Figure Studio I Seneca College SENECA COLLEGE OF APPLIED ARTS AND TECHNOLOGY SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION ARTS SUBJECT OUTLINE College Common Subject Code and Title AFD111 Figure Studio I Subject Description Life drawing, or drawing from the model is regarded as the corner stone and foundation to drawing well. Students will have the opportunity to work directly from the model to further develop their drawing abilities. Skills development will focus on the principles of human anatomy, accuracy in shape and proportion, structure, and individual style, using diverse media. Credit Status Art Fundamentals Certificate Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to: 1. Demonstrate fundamental skills in freehand drawing through observational drawing in both fast and sustained poses. 2. Apply visual design elements and principals to drawing from the figure. 3. Accurately draw the human figure demonstrating an understanding of anatomy, weight, and balance. 4. Demonstrate an ability to communicate the subtleties of human form through practiced observational skills. 5. Respond constructively and professionally to giving and receiving critical feedback in the process of evaluating work. 6. Organize a portfolio of developed work for presentation purposes.
