Pumpkin Papers- papers that Alger Hiss containing dangerous information that he uncovered about Walter Chambers who had accused of being a communist in 1948. When congressman Richard Nixon brought a subpoena to Chambers, he led the investigators to his Maryland Farm and pointed to a hollowed out pumpkin where he hid the papers Red Emma- Emma Goldman, a Jewish immigrant who preached things such as the abolition of capitalism, freedom of spiritual and intellectual expression, free love and an end to war, racism, religious differences and ethnocentrism. Gained a reputation as one of the most notorious lecturers in the 1890’s. Tamanend- was the chief of one of the tribes that made up the Lenni-Lape nation in the Deleware Valley. He is best known as establishing peace between William Penn and the colonists and the Native Americans in that area. His famous quote is that the Lenni-Lape people and the English colonists will: “live in peace as long as the waters run in the rivers and creeks and as long as the stars and moon endure." He became a symbol for patriotic
