Midterm Review ~ Summer Reading: Article by David Christian There are two major concepts o Humans are very complex beings o Everything is highly dependent on how you look at it People of faith make the mistake of measuring human  importance against time and space People of faith used to believe that the earth and humans  were the center of the universe. This was disproved by scientists who showed that we  revolved around the sun and were completely  insignificant compared to the universe. Scientists say that humans are insignificant on the larger scale  of time and space Christian argues that we must look at humans as a whole   We have to look at humans as a single, coherent unit rather  than a collection of particular stories of different communities Ex. Paleolithic vs. Modern Even though one is much more advanced than the other,  we must view them in the same way Get rid of the baggage that you use and don’t evaluate  other cultures in terms of your own culture Ex. The pacific islander’s, they eat their parents. We find
