Chien Chiu Hsiung BUS 50.1 Dr. Marilyn Blau November 30, 2009 Case #14 – Ramrod Stockwell, Inc. 1. Benson Metals use machines and equipments to melt, cog, roll, and finish the steel. The company produces steels in small quantities with a variety of characteristic. Producing specialty steels is fairly well established, but there is a lot of “guesswork,” skill, and even some “black magic” involved. Benson Metals also moving toward producing more sophisticated and more difficult steels for the aerospace industry. 2. The problems for Benson Metal as it changes products and technologies are producing new and difficult aerospace products that require more research skills and metallurgical analysis, and “delicate” stages in production. The company also has to market in a different fashion and has to meet government standards. The new steels are more expensive than the specialty steels and failure to meet specifications can result in more losses for the company. 3.
