Chien Chiu Hsiung CC 2.3 Professor Wilson May 25, 2010 Discuss the status of women and the role of gender in society. Around the world, gender gap still exists in our work place, education, and political system. Women are especially facing gender bias because people view women as weak and unsophisticated subordinates. Since feudalism, women are viewed as property and as commodities. Some still believe in traditional role of the women. They think women should stay home, be a good housewife, and take care of their children. However, today women are breaking those traditions by working side by side with men and working at the same level as men. For decades, society has been resisting to let women work and own businesses because people think women cannot handle the same level of work as men and women are not capable of making difficult decisions. Since civilizations began, society have been run and dominated by men and women have always been treated as second class citizens.
