AMAZON EVOLUTION 2 Amazon Evolution As times change it is often important that companies change as well in order to continue making profits. One company that is changing along with the times is Amazon. Amazon is the largest online retailer according to (Rainer & Turban, 2009). Amazon is still suffering from loss of profits, not as bad as other retailers but they are still suffering. In a way to counteract this loss in profits, Amazon is using its unused resources to help gain back some lost profits. Amazon is not moving away from its core competency, it is simply adding to it by adding new services as a way to generate more revenue. The first step that Amazon has taken in adding to its core competency is by taking the 90% of their processing capacity that they are not using and provide a service with it (Rainer & Turban, 2009). The Simple Storage Service (S3) allows Amazon to charge 15 cents per gigabyte
