Instructor Policies XBIS219 Business Information Systems Facilitator Information Dr. Shawn M. Rieder [email protected] (University of Phoenix) [email protected] (Personal) 410-227-7124 (EST) Facilitator Availability My normal office hours are 4:00 PM-7:00PM (PST) Mon-Thur and 5:00 AM - 9:00 AM (PST) Sundays. Note, I do have a full-time day job and I spend much of my day in meetings therefore I am not always available during the day. Also, note I am on Eastern time and I do have children at home, please take this into consideration if you attempt to call me later in the evenings. I normally allow all phone calls from numbers I do not recognize to go straight to voicemail and I will return your call during my next set of hours or reply to your individual forum. If you need to have a call with me outside of my normal office hours, please feel free to request an appointment with a suggested time and I will be happy to accommodate you if possible. For emergencies, when you are not able to gain access to messages on the Online Learning System (OLS), please send a message to my personal email address. In the event a third party needs to contact me, please direct them to my contact information listed under "facilitator information." No third party should use your login credentials to gain access to the classroom. Late Assignments Late assignments receive a 10% deduction for each day they are late if assignments are not posted by 11:59 p.m. M.S.T. on the day they are due. Assignments more than 4 days late will not be accepted. Technological issues are not considered valid grounds for late assignment submission. In the event of a University of Phoenix server outage, students should submit assignments to the instructor and when systems are restored, submit those assignments according to syllabus instructions. Unless an Incomplete grade has been granted, learner assignments submitted after the last day of class will not be accepted. Learning Teams Learning teams will not be used in this class. Discussion question responses do not count towards the class participation requirement and are evaluated separately. Weekly Summaries Weekly summaries are not required in this course. Final Week Requirements Discussion question responses and participation are required during the final week of the course. Word Count Requirements The written assignments in this class have word count limits and require APA formatting. I calculate word count based on the body of the written assignment including citations. The title page and references page(s) in papers and CheckPoints do not count towards word count. None of the assignments in this course require an abstract, if you include an abstract it will not be counted in the word count.
