Task 1- FREE WRITING Free Writing In the last two decades, the Army has incorporatedthe use of information technology into nearly every facet of military operations. Information technology has altered the way the Army does business. in particular, three areas of military domains; Personnel, Operations, and Training. on any given day, the personnel section of any unit processes hundreds of actions using a system known as eMILPO, the acronym for Electronic military Personnel Operational System. The system handles everything from soldiers financial transactions to personnel data at Department of the Army level. The systemn is on a network controlled by the installation's Directorate of Information Management. Let's say Private Snuffy Smith needs to start an allotment to have money sent directly from his paycheck to a finance company for his car payment. He only needs to fill out a form, submit it to the Personel section and within hours the transaction goes into effect. No more worries for Private Smith to send in his car payment, or being late. It automatically deducts from his paycheck and the finance company receives the payment. With the addition of technology, the Noncommissioned Officer Education Sytem and NCO functional courses adapted distance learning methods. These new methods save the Army money and allow the training of more NCOs in a shorter period of time. This keeps more NCOs in the field while training improved technical and tactical skills. The Army seeks better methods to train NCOs in comparison to methods used in the past. In 1999, I was one of the first NCos to to experience the First Sergeant Course via teleconferencing, as a test bed. I spent 60 days studying 25 modules and thebn took a 100 question exam on the first day of resideny pahse. It
