Marketing 3100 Principles of Marketing George M. This course is an introduction to Marketing. We will use the fundamental building blocks as outlined in the text to build a marketing plan for a real corporation. We will utilize a group project method to simulate working in a real world environment. We will learn how to gather data, process information and present in a professional format. Text: Marketing 10e, 11 th Edition, Lamb, Hair and McDaniel; Southwestern Publishing Grades: Exam 1 20% Exam 2 20% Final Exam 30% Project (25%) Presentation (5%) 30% A = 90%+; B = 89.99-80.00; C = 79.99-70.00; D = 69.99-60.00; F = 59.99 and below Exam 1 will cover Chapters 1-7 Exam 2 will cover Chapters 8-14 Final Exam will cover all chapters. The exam will be weighted 70% on Chapters 15-21 and 30% on Chapters 1-14. Group Projects: The class will divide into groups of 4-5, select a team captain, select a client and write a marketing plan. Each group will then present the marketing plan to the class with a power point slide show and three copies of the written plan. The plans must be professionally assembled.

Each team member will rate the other members of their team on a scale of 1-10 based on participation and effort. An average rating of 7 or less from your team members will result in an automatic decrease of 10 percentage points from the project grade. A Team Captain’s responsibilities are to communicate with the client, organize the team, assign marketing plan sections to team members, write the Company Description section in addition to the section the Team Captain chooses to oversee, insure group participation and manage the group with inclusion and respect. The Team Captain must account for his/her team by taking attendance at each management meeting. A Team Leader will receive an extra 5 percentage points added to his or her final grade just for assuming the position of Team Leader. If the Team Leader receives an average rating of 7 or less from his or her team members, he or she will, in addition to having an automatic 10 percentage point reduction from the project grade also lose the 5 percentage points that was added to his or her final grade. A Team Leader who receives any negative feedback from a client will automatically lose the 5 extra percentage points added to his or her final grade plus lose an additional 5 percentage points from his or her final grade. All materials become property of the Instructor.
