Alec Kraft Professor Lipsker 10/23/2010 Assignment 2 Red Lobster Case Study 1. I believe that Red Lobster relies so much on internet surveys as opposed to phone surveys because many people are opposed to telemarketers and when they receive a call from someone stating they are with Red Lobster there is a good chance that they will just hang up the phone. Another reason that many companies are switching to online surveys as opposed to phone surveys is because of the cost of phone surveys. Every company is in business to make money and if you can cut costs without sacrificing information then most companies will take this road. By law in the United States automatic dialing, which is used by most companies who do research surveys, can only be used to call landlines and many people and companies are moving away from landlines and only have cell phones. The costs of labor to have a real person dial phone numbers as opposed to a computer dial the numbers are drastic and can affect a company’s marketing budget. Online surveys are also more cost effective compared to phone surveys because data entry is not cheap for companies and
