CHEN 3010 Applied Data Analysis Fall 2004 Name: _________________________ ________________________ ________________________ ________________________ One-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) In this exercise, you will create a one-way ANOVA in Excel, use Excel’s built-in tool for ANOVA, and use Minitab’s ANOVA software. 1. Log onto one of the computers in the HP Lab Plaza. Download the file OneWayANOVAStarter.xls from the course web site. Launch Excel and open this file. 2. In cell E2 , enter the label n . Name cell D2 n , and enter the value 6 there, representing the number of replicate observations at each factor level. In cell A6 , enter the label a . Name cell A7 a , and enter the value 5 there, representing the number of factor levels. In cell B11 , enter the label Ntotal . Name cell A11 Ntotal , and enter the formula =n*a there. The result should be 30 . In cell I4 , enter a heading Totals . In cells I5:I9 , use the SUM function to compute the totals for each row of Percentage Removal Measurements . In cell I10 , compute the Grand Total as the sum of the sums. Enter the label Grand Total in cell I11 . In cell J4 , enter a heading Averages . In cells J5:J9 , enter formulas to divide the Totals values by n to compute the averages at each factor level. In cell J10 , compute the Grand Average by dividing the Grand Total by Ntotal . Enter a label Grand Average in cell K10 .
