Bailee Milner Professor Fisher Writing Assignment 1 11 August 2011 Ronald Reagan’s Family Life Ronald Wilson Reagan grew up in a relatively poor family. His father, John, better known as Jack, moved the family around several times looking for work before finally settling down in Dixon, Illinois. Ronald was one of two children, having only an older brother. As a boy, he suffered the effects of his alcoholic father and was drawn toward reading and spending time with his mother. This essay will examine the family life of Ronald Reagan, number 6 of the Chapter 5: The Shift to Conservatism questions. After graduating college in 1932, and performing as an actor for several years, he married Jane Wyman and they had three children, Maureen, Michael, and Christine. Christine was born prematurely and lived for only a day. The death of Christine is said to have been what caused the divorce of Ronald and Jane in 1949. Ronald met his second wife, Nancy in 1949 and in 1952, they learned Nancy was pregnant. They quickly arranged a marriage for March 4, 1952 and just
