Study guide for Chapters 3 and 4 (lectures 3,4,5) Here are some vocab words you should know Individual= one living organism Species= A set of individuals who are able to reproduce and produce fertile offspring Population= a group of individuals of the same species who interact and reproduce together in the same area at the same time Community= a group of individuals of more than one species who interact together in the same area at the same time Ecosystem= The community of organisms in an area, along with the abiotic resources they interact with. Landscape = an area of land containing patches of different ecosystem types Biome = a set of similar ecosystems, often located in many places around the world. Biodiversity = the number of different species in an area, and their relative abundance Niche: The habitat requirements and interactions (both biotic and abiotic) that allow a species to survive and produce offspring.
