Nathan Ellis Box #621 January 19, 2006 Bible Study Methods Greg Trull Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” Observations 1. “But” – connects the sentence prior by contrast 2. “you” – Jesus is talking to a group, not a single person (1:7 – “He said to them ”) 3. “will” – Whatever is going to happen has not happened yet, it is yet to happen. 4. “will receive” – There must be a giver of what is being given, whether a person, being, or other. 5. “receive power” – What kind of power? 6. “when the Holy Spirit has come upon you” – “when” the Holy Spirit “comes” so it has not always been “upon” someone 7. “when the Holy Spirit has come upon you” – The Holy Spirit “comes” so it has to come from somewhere. 8.
