•3/30/2011 •1 Lecture 18: March 30, 2011 • Today: –Finish Two-Factor ANOVA without replication –Then, Chapter 12: p. 488-middle p.491 • Next class: –Read bottom p.494-middle p.504 • Homework No.11: Two-Factor ANOVA –One problem; it has four parts. –Due: Monday, April 4 at 6:00 p.m. Discussion Session 10: Friday, April 1 First item of business: Go to the Handouts menu on my web site. Download the F-table(.05) and theTukey table if you have not done so already. Bring these to discussion. Second item of business: Go to the Discussion-Data-Sets menu on my web site. Download the data set titled “Discussion 10 Data, ANOVA Problem 11.13, page 462.” This is an Excel spreadsheet that contains the data for Problem 11.13. Convert the Excel spreadsheet to a Minitab spreadsheet. Third item of business: The spreadsheet has 12 values stored under the title “Absences” in Column 1. Columns 2 and 3 have the titles “Plant” and “Friday,” respectively, but they contain no values or codes. Your tasks are: Let “Plant” take on the labels 1, 2, 3 and “Friday” take on the labels Mar4, Mar11, Mar18 (no spaces!). Match each absence value with its corresponding plant number and Friday date and insert these into the spreadsheet. Fourth item of business: Use Minitab to run the Two-Factor ANOVA. Do you need directions regarding how to run Two-Factor ANOVA in Minitab ? I have explicit directions for the example during today’s class. Fifth item of business: If you were given just the “SS” information, you should be able to fill in the rest of the Two-Way ANOVA table. Sixth item of business: Be able to do all of the hypothesis-test steps for each factor. (We did these for One-Factor ANOVA in Lecture 14 on March 9. We do it in class today for Two-Factor ANOVA.) Seventh item of business: Do a Tukey hypothesis-test (by hand!)to compare the mean absenteeism between March 4 and March 18. (This is just one of several paired-difference tests that you could do. Look at the confidence bands from the Minitab output to support your result). There is no rule that says that:
