Hannah Addario “The Evolution of American Families,” by Stephanie Coontz talks about family history in America and how over time the ideal or regular family wasn’t what it really is. For example, a lot of people believe that the ideal family is one where it’s the mother, father, children and the father is the one who works while the mother stays at home to take care of the children. The Evolution of American Families chapter showed me that the history of family and what I have always been taught isn’t true. I learned that fathers weren’t always working, and the mother stayed at home, in different occasions it was the opposite way. In the article, the author explains that “… love was not supposed to be the primary motive for marriage.” I found this interesting because we are always taught that centuries ago marriage was out of love and led by religion. Although there are many topics that I found Interesting this topic is what I found most interesting. People are always led to believe that marriage should be about love and the mother is supposed to be a stay at home wife. Over time things have evolved and now in days both parents
