Unformatted text preview: PHYS 1112K Raghavan Experiment to see how Electric Field changes August 31, 2011 with position for a variety of Charge distributions Group Number: __________ Objectives: Group Members Present: Empirically determine the electric field (E) vs. position (r) ________________________________ relationship for a variety of charge configurations. Compare/contrast these E vs. r relationships. ________________________________ ________________________________ Procedure: Open Charges and Field simulation http://phet.colorado.edu/simulations/sims.php?sim=Charges_and_Fields and click Run Now. Place a 1 nC (nanoCoulomb) positive charge and E-Field sensor in the test area. Click Show E-Field. Observe the sensors arrow as you drag the charge around in the window. At any point, the sensors arrow illustrates the direction and its color indicates the magnitude of the electric field....
