Scenario Analysis Assignment 2 Scenario Analysis Scenario One: Barbara is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) working for a nonprofit social service agency. Many of the clients in the agency are female domestic violence victims. The director of the agency has asked Barbara to develop a counseling group to serve the needs of these individuals. Question One: What ethical matters should Barbara consider as she plans this group? 1) The ethical matters that Barbara should consider as she plans this group would be to provide all the necessary information about the group to all members current or potential. She would want to be upfront with the group expectations, client rights, discussion topics and confidentiality. It would be important to have everything explained outload to the group and individuals as well as have it written down. She should also have a written consent and signed expectations that the individual agrees to the terms and conditions of the class. Barbara should respect the confidentiality and clearly advise the clients individually and as a group, regarding the expectations. Question Two: What methods should Barbara use to ensure confidentiality in the context of group counseling? 2) The methods that Barbara should use to ensure confidentially in the context of group counseling would be to encourage the group members to embrace the “concept of confidentiality, making it their own rather than a rule the group therapist has mandated” (McClanahan, 2014). Its important that current members and even new members who join the group that, they sign some form of contract confirming to their commitment to confidentiality.
