The future of Pharmacy The Future of Pharmacy Jessica Thibodeaux HCP/210 02/20/2011 The Future of Pharmacy Pharmacy practice is a technical practice and requires educated people to work in this field. There are many things about pharmacy practice that I did not have clue about before taking this course. To narrow it down I will describe three things I learned. First of all coming into this class I was under the impression that to work as a pharmacy technician that every person had to have certification or a degree. One of our assignments was to choose a pharmacy related job and research requirements, salary, and job duties. I learned that in some states it is only required to have a high school diploma or its equivalency. Having a certification will increase the chances of getting a job as a pharmacy technician and it also may be required for the technician to take continued education courses to stay up to date on changes in law and procedures. The future of Pharmacy into place in 1970 to ensure the safety of the public. These are put into place to separate drugs that are more likely to become abused from the drugs that are not. The last thing I learned from this course is that pharmacy technicians are not allowed to counsel patients but that they can take care of billing insurance, helping patients find OTC drugs. Technicians are also able to conduct inventory orders, rotations of drugs, returns, and counting, measuring, filling, and labeling medication orders.
