Nathan Ellis Box #621 October 28, 2005 Kent Kersey 6 researching the word, developing the soul Please type your responses to the following questions: 1. What does theodicy mean? Theodicy is a vindication of God's goodness and justice in the face of the existence of evil. 2. Job continually expresses a deep desire for the Lord to consider his plea of innocence (note his final plea in 31:35-37) and to answer Job's call for justice. How does God answer Job? God comes to Job in a whirlwind in chapter 38 and put Job in his place. God started questioning Job things like, “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?” and, “Who enclosed the sea with doors when, bursting forth, it went out from the womb?” God pretty much just reminds Job that He is all powerful and that He can do whatever He wants, while Job is just a peon of God. 3. What is an imprecatory psalm? An imprecatory psalm is one that wish curses upon the psalmist’s enemies.
