Prep Questions Topic 5 Fall 2011 P1.  Avoidance can be  proactive  or  reactive .  Be sure you have a good understanding of the  difference between the two.   P2. An employer has 1000 employees at a single manufacturing plant.  These employees are  engaged in a great deal of heavy lifting and as a result, some employees experience back injuries.  Because these injuries occur on the job, this employer has an obligation under Workers  Compensation to provide medical expenses and lost wages to the injured employees.   This employer is considering implementing a loss prevention program designed to reduce the  incidence of losses by 25%.  This employer has information concerning the frequency  distribution for the number of losses per year.  Currently, this frequency distribution  before  this  loss prevention program shows a mean value for frequency of 40, with a standard deviation of 6.  With the loss prevention program, the standard deviation of the frequency distribution falls to 3.
