She is working with individual or small groups of students during the "Intervention" period at her school. Observe how she works with the students and the techniques she uses to help students with phonemic awareness and other skills needed when learning to read. Reflect as you observe. She ask the student to pronounce the words using the syllables of the word if she has a hard time. She gives her feedback if she does a good job. 2. What is the teacher doing while working with the students? She is recording information in a notebook. Why is she doing this? Why is she asking the student to use colored tiles to pronounce words. What else are you observing? Reflect. She records information of how she does while she introduces a word and has the student pronounce the word by using the blocks. Each block stood for a syllable. She shows the student, if the student is confused about a word and then she has her repeat it. 3. What strategy is the teacher using with the students now? Why? How does this help the students read the words? Reflect. The teacher has the student sound out the words to let her know what the sound and letters sound like. This allows the student to pronounce the words correctly. She has her color code in every word. The other students, she ask them to use a cardto cover up a certain part of the word. Then ask them to put their finger under the constant and then use the card to cover up a certain syllable. 4. Now the teacher is moving to another part of the lesson when she tells the students they are going to read a book. Observe how she prepares the students for reading the book and how and what she teaches them.
