EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Arbolito Horticulture is a small nursery in greater Austin area that has no system to communicate with its customers in a regular basis to generate business. They are currently facing communication problems due to the lack of the following: No way to notify customers of sales and special promotions. No follow up with customers to suggest planting tips and solutions for horticulture problems. No way to introduce new products to interested customers. No incentive for customers to refer friends and family to Arbolito Horticulture. In order to help them regenerate business, we conducted research by surveying Texas nurseries, various nursery customers, and also using the internet. From the research result we concluded that the target demographic for Arbolito Horticulture is 30-39 years old who mostly prefer to receive promotional newsletters four times a year by postal mail. We recommended that Arbolito Horticulture start sending newsletters by mail to all their customers. We also recommended that Arbolito Horticulture include three different forms of information in the newsletters. These forms are – promotional, informational, and an inventory summary. Although most customers prefer promotional news, we feel including some of each category would satisfy all customer’s requests. Furthermore, we recommended that they should begin offering email newsletters once a website is started and staffing capacity is increased to attract and meet the requirements of the younger demographic groups.

Currently, there is no system for Arbolito Horticulture to communicate to customers. Nursery business is generated from drive-by clients or from Yellow Book advertisements. Business has declined since grand opening in May 2010 and Arbolito Horticulture would like our assistance to find a way to regenerate business by communicating their news and promotions to their clientele. In order to find the best method to communicate, we researched other nurseries’ market strategies online, conducted field research and surveys, and provided inquiries for Arbolito Horticulture to respond to. In this report, our team will propose a recommendation to solve Arbolito Horticulture’s
