Elizabeth Spartas Exercise 3 9-25-08 She stood in the middle of the train station. People wearing winter jackets walked in every direction. They did not appear to take notice of the small woman who stood in their path- the only person not moving in sight. Rather they scurried along attempting to organize some item of great importance that had been shoved haphazardly into their briefcase as they rushed out the door late as usual or sipped coffee while continually glancing at their expensive watch just to be sure they wouldn’t miss their train or they dragged their sluggish children behind them repeating all of the fun things they did not have time to do that day. There she stood in her wool pea coat, her skinny legs (covered in the most practical black tights while her feet were covered in practical grey clogs), an autumn orange knit hat sat sloppily on her blonde head. The grey scarf around her neck nearly engulfed her small face; only the wild, frightened amethyst eyes were fully visible. She was invisible- not to even noticed when accidentally jostled. She was a statue- an obstacle. whereishewhereishewhereishewhereishewhereishewhereishewhereishe
