Elizabeth Spartas Exercise 2 9-18-2008 The old farmhouse stood there. Well, it hadn’t been a farmhouse, but rather a large old house surrounded by fields, for years. The roof was sunken and the weathered planks that held it up appeared to be waiting for the day the weight would be lifted from their shoulders. The entire building seemed to sag more as it realized with anticipation it might soon be relieved of the painful task of standing. The mismatched furniture that had filled the house was scattered about the yard. Orange price tags were stuck haphazardly on the items. Most of the larger items had been claimed- the large antique mahogany bed, the velvet sofa, the dining room table that they had gathered around when visitors came. Two items did not have that spot of orange on them- a color television and an old wardrobe sat on the rickety porch. The crowd that filled the yard browsing the many items filled the large mirrors that covered the majority of the two doors that opened revealing the empty wardrobe save for an old wedding
