She looked at me with her dark brown eyes. The brown was almost so dark it was difficult to distinguish her large pupils with the chocolate irises surrounding them. When I looked into her eyes I saw only my reflection- distorted and confused looking. Impossible was the task of making eye contact, at least it seemed that way. She looked at me and I tried to make eye contact. She looked beyond me past me. She was staring at something. Was it outside? Through the glass? I shuffled to the left so as not to block her view of the mountains. It was the best view in the place- the only one with color. The music swirled around us. We sat at our small table watching those on the dance floor- we were careful not to spill on the expensive while table cloth. Rose had her auburn hair in loose curls that perfectly framed her face she blinked and looked over at me as I sipped my wine. “I love this song. Isn’t it romantic?”
