2Domestic and International TerrorismDomestic terrorism is the threatened or unlawful use, of violence by an individual or group based and operating entirely within the United States (or its territories). This is without foreign direction committed against property or persons to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.International terrorism involves dangerous or violent acts to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or any state. Also, that would be a criminal violation if committed within the jurisdiction of the United States or any state. Acts are intended to intimidate or coerce a civilian population, affect the conduct of government and influence the policy of a government. These acts transcend national boundaries in terms of the means by whichthey are accomplished, locale in which perpetrators operate, and the persons they appear intended to intimidate. As the demonstrated events during the past several years, both international and domesticterrorist organizations represent threats within the borders of the United States to American citizens. The 1993 World Trade Center bombing On February 26, 1993, inside of a parking garage of the World Trade Center (WTC) in New York City, a bomb exploded. This event was the first indication for the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS). This event has shown that terrorism was evolving from a regional phenomenon outside of theUnited States to a transnational phenomenon. The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Joint Terrorism Task Force and The New York City (NYC) Police Department immediately called upon DSS for support during the investigation. DSS helped to quickly identify a group of Middle Eastern radicals as those responsible for the attack with the help of the NYC Police, the FBI, and Bureau of
