Performance Objective : At the end of this lesson students will be able to correctly change two words into a contraction with 85% accuracy. Assessment: Students will complete a worksheet; they will change two given words into the correct contraction. “I can…” Statement : “I can correctly form contractions.” EALR Addressed : 3.3.5 Uses contractions correctly (e.g., won’t, can’t, I’m) Materials : contraction worksheets, exit slips Procedure : 1. Start by asking the students if anyone knows what the word contract means (to shorten or to become smaller). Explain that students will be learning about how we can combine two words to make them into one smaller word—these are called contractions. a.
