Lesson 16, Writing a Draft of the Cover Page The Cover Page presents the title of your paper and lists all the authors. In addition, it has a couple of features that are done to prepare the paper for publication. The Cover Page contains of a header that consists of either the first two or three words of your title or two very important words in your title. These words and the page number should appear in the upper right hand corner of every page within your paper, beginning with the Cover Page. Put five spaces between the words in the header and the page number. The words in this header are also printed IN ALL CAPS on the Cover Page after the words: Running Head:. The running head is an abbreviated title that does not exceed 50 characters, including all punctuation and spaces. The words you choose are in all uppercase letters, flush left at the top of the title page just below the header. This is done to assist in publication where an editor will want to keep all your pages together and avoid mixing them up with other papers he or she may be reviewing.
