Review Notes for World Music Test Make sure you have read/outlined/made note cards for pp. 10-11; and pp. 55-63 of the textbook. Information discussed in class will take precedence on the test. Areas upon which to focus: 1. Five categories of instruments found on p. 10 of the textbook ( aerophone, chordophone, membranophone, idiophone, electrophone ). Understand these well enough so that if you were presented with an image of an instrument or with a clear sound, you would be able to say into which category or categories it might fall. 2. Review attributes of African Music (pp. 55-56) using examples from Rhapsody World Music playlist ( Baoulé music from Ivory Coast; Ladysmith Black Mambazo—an example of Isicathimya from South Africa).
