Inside Information is very helpful. Plan ahead to get inside info , find out who to bribe and dumpster diving. All governments do it with spies (economic). This point is stressed although self evident because you must do everything you can to get that inside information. This includes eaves dropping, hiring spies, and using implied threats such as love letters. Non-verbal communication is culture specific. Ex. In Western culture making eye contact shows honesty and engagement. Non-verbal communication is also called an attending behavior. Slouching shows inattentiveness. Frowning shows disagreement or unhappiness. We refer to different types of communication as different channels. Ex. Eye contact, frowning, linguistic patterns, tones, and volume. An effective negotiator uses as many channels simultaneously as possible. Multiple channels are also referred to as social bandwidth. The broader the bandwidth the more channels you are using. Email is the extreme opposite of social bandwidth. We have mediums that are called quick and mediums that are called slow. A quick
