IBM 301 Th:6-9:50pm (10209) Hwk1: CEO Exchange: International Branding in the 21st Century (20pts) KEVIN ROBERTS 1. What country is his big passion and why? China, due to opportunity. His family is located in New Zealand. 2. What does he look for in people? When he is hiring, he looks for team players. He is fond of people driven by emotions rather then logic. He finds people that do great work, so they may earn lots of money; which he refers to as “buckets of dough”. 3. What are the two first things he did when he started with the company and why? Two things he established as his company began. One, remove the human resources department, because he finds it rubbish and nonsense. Two, budgets. 4. His advice regarding types of industries to get in: What won’t he sell? Never work in a declining industry. He claims, legal he will do, profitable he will do a lot. JIM ROSE 1. Is it useful to manage people at a youthful age and why? Yes, failure will strengthen you.
