Page | 1 TUTORIAL PROGRAM TUTORIALS BEGIN IN WEEK 2. Students must attend the tutorial in which they are officially enrolled. Attendance at other tutorials will not be recorded. The program for each weekly tutorial consists of Problem Questions, Review Questions and in-class writing assignments. The purpose of these questions is to cover the core principles of a topic, to provide some practice in using the principles for economic analysis and to identify the style of questions to be used in the final exam paper. Missing tutorials and/or assessments because of camps, moots meetings etc even organised by university or religious organisations, will be treated as an absence. Where this corresponds to an evaluation a mark of zero will be recorded. Problem Questions The Problem Questions consist of selected end -of- chapter problems and exercises from the textbook, Frank, Jennings and Bernanke and other problem exercises. You should attempt each week’s set of questions before the tutorial. As there will not be time to answer all questions in tutorials only those which are highlighted will be addressed by your tutor. You should ask your tutor to explain any concepts that you have difficulty with. You can also address these questions in PITSTOP or PASS or with your lecturer in their consultation hours. In addition there is a Discussion Forum in Blackboard where you can discuss any academic matters with your classmates. The answers to each week’s tutorials will be posted on the subject website the week after the tutorial. Writing Tasks Where indicated in the tutorial program you will be required to write an answer to a short question which will be marked in class. You will be guided by your tutor on how to write and mark these exercises. At the end of the Session you will be asked to submit the three written tasks as a PORTFOLIO. This will be used to help evaluate your participation in class. The aim of this writing task is to guide you to write an answer to a question in the style of an economist. This will culminate in your tutor marking your written work .In this way we hope to prepare you to write clear concise and accurate answers to your exam questions both in Week 7, Week 12 and at the end of the session Final Exam. You should keep a copy of each of your week’s writing tasks as you will be asked to submit them to your tutor in Week 13. They should be grouped and submitted as your PORTFOLIO with your name, student number your tutor’s name.
