Unformatted text preview: JOURNALS 1-5 Name: Wilyen Lee Lesson #: 1 Topic or Concept: Anticipatory Metacommunication Part I: The situation was a discussion with my boyfriend. Part II: My boyfriend and I needed to have a personal discussion about our lives. Usually this type of discussion either does not go the way that I would like it to, or even worse, we end up in a fight or an argument. This time I chose to use anticipatory metacommunication. This skill was very effective because I carefully planned out what I would say and also thought of possible scenarios of his reactions. I then carefully thought out my response to his reactions. By doing this, I was able to anticipate anything that he said and keep under control and not let the situation get out of hand. Part III: I plan on always using this communication tool in the future for all of our discussions and important life decisions.
